Ballot Drawing: Businessman Michael Hunt to Top Amarillo Mayoral Ballot

Candidates for Mayor and seats on the Amarillo City Council drew for positions on the ballot on Friday, setting the ballot placement in stone that voters will encounter on May 1.

According to the City of Amarillo, all 16 candidates drew for their ballot positions on Friday. The draw has become an annual tradition for local elections in Amarillo, as candidates gather to learn where they will appear on Amarillo voters’ ballots.

In the mayoral race, catering company owner Michael Hunt received the top placement on the ballot. Hunt, who also happened to be the first mayoral candidate to file for the May 1 election, will lead the field of four candidates when voters head to the polls.
