New City Road Repair Projects to Begin Monday

Drivers should expect lane closures as a new road repair project begins in Amarillo on Monday.

According to the City of Amarillo, as part of the ongoing summer street maintenance program, City of Amarillo Capital Projects and Development Engineering contractors will be conducting road reconstruction requiring a detour on Heritage Hills Parkway between Soncy Road and Legacy Parkway.

The eastbound lane of Heritage Hills Parkway will be closed to traffic beginning Monday at 7:30am. That lane is expected to reopen after a few days, depending on weather conditions. Two-way traffic will be maintained for passenger vehicles on Heritage Hills. Narrow lanes will exist, so large and commercial vehicles will be detoured to Perry Avenue, Ellen Hope Street, and then Tradition Parkway for access to the Heritage Hills neighborhood.

When reconstruction of the eastbound lane is complete, a similar closure of the westbound lane will begin and is expected to reopen a few days later.

Drivers are asked to watch for signage during this time.
