As the United States made its final withdrawal of military forces from Afghanistan on Monday, U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Amarillo) took to social media to call on President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to take action to save Americans left behind in Kabul.

According to a video posted to Jackson’s congressional account on Twitter, the freshman congressman said that constituents of the 13th Congressional District are presently in Kabul, seeking to return to the United States. Jackson said the constituents have been left behind by the State Department and threatened by the Taliban when trying to return home.

In the video, Jackson described the conditions faced by his constituents during their final attempted exit from Afghanistan at 5am this morning.

“The 15-year-old son was beaten, the mother had a gun put to her head,” Jackson said. “The Taliban told her that they did not care who she was and they did not care about her passport. If she came back, they would kill her.”

Jackson went on to express his disapproval at the treatment of his constituents and called for something to be done to help the Americans left behind in Afghanistan.

“This is a travesty,” Jackson said. “This is not the United States of America that I fought 29 years to defend…This makes my blood boil.”

After the final withdrawal was announced this afternoon, Jackson returned to social media to post through his campaign Twitter account, calling for support for the Americans who were left behind.

“I can’t BELIEVE that Biden and his incompetent team are parading around taking a victory lap while WE STILL HAVE AMERICANS TRAPPED IN AFGHANISTAN,” Jackson tweeted. “This is ENRAGING! They want us to FORGET about the trapped Americans who will soon be hostages. WE WILL NOT FORGET!”

According to media reports, the State Department believes about 300 Americans were left behind in Afghanistan following the U.S.’s military withdrawal.
