State Rep. Matt Krause (R-Haslet) is the fourth candidate to join the growing Republican primary field for Texas Attorney General.

On Thursday, Krause launched his primary campaign for Attorney General, challenging incumbent Ken Paxton. In a statement, Krause highlighted his priorities on the campaign trail, saying he will be a “faithful conservative fighter” if elected to this statewide office.

“It is important now more than ever that we have an Attorney General that will fight to protect Texas,” Krause said. “As a founding member of the Texas Freedom Caucus, I have been on the front lines against the left’s radical agenda from creeping into Texas. As your Attorney General, I will continue to fight to keep critical race theory out of our schools, protect Texas families from the crisis at our southern border, and stand proudly with our men and women in law enforcement.”

Krause joins Paxton, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush, and former Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman in the Republican primary for the seat. Joe Jaworski and Lee Merritt are both seeking the Democratic nomination for Attorney General.

The primary for this seat will likely be held next spring.
