Local businessman Alex Fairly was involved in a bicycle crash on Thursday in Arkansas.

According to Fairly’s Inspire Amarillo Facebook account, the local business leader was involved in a bicycle crash over the weekend in Bentonville, Arkansas. As a result of the accident, Fairly’s team says he suffered eight fractured ribs and a punctured, partially-collapsed lung.

No update has been given on Fairly’s status as of Monday, but his team said he hoped to be released from the hospital this weekend.

Fairly’s team said it is unlikely he will appear in court on Tuesday as part of his ongoing lawsuit against the City of Amarillo, but both legal teams have agreed to continue with the trial, with or without Fairly’s presence in the courtroom.

Fairly is the president of Fairly Group, a local consulting firm. Fairly has also been floated as a potential candidate for Amarillo mayor in 2023.
