The official website for Potter County, www.co.potter.tx.us, has been out since early this afternoon. This outage follows a string of technological issues for the county. In 2019, the county was the victim of a ransomware attack. Last month, Potter County Judge Nancy Tanner announced her personal Facebook account had been hacked.
Before the website going down the agenda for this morning’s meeting of the Potter County Commission was not available. Among other items on the agenda were considerations to purchase a laptop computer and office chair, with each item having a price tag of just over $1,000.
Some other county websites, such as pottercountyvotes.com and pottercountysheriff.org, appear to still be functional.
The Amarillo Pioneer attempted to reach out to the county for comment, but it appears that their email system may have also been affected by the issue. It remains unclear what is causing the issue or when the website will be restored.
Update 11/15: The website has been restored. Read our full update regarding the situation here.
