Amarillo ISD Orders Bond Election

Provided

Voters in Amarillo will have yet another bond election to decide when they head to vote this May.

Last week, the Amarillo ISD Board of Trustees voted to place four bond items on the ballot for May 7 totaling $286 million. Proposition A will be for $180.6 million and would fund general school replacements and repairs. Proposition B will be for $19 million and would fund repairs to AISD’s football stadium. Proposition C will be for $38.3 million and would fund construction of a new “natatorium” with a diving pool. Proposition D will be for $48 million and would fund construction of new practice facilities for AISD schools.

This will be the second time in five years that AISD has asked voters to pass a bond, with the most recent bond election having occurred in November 2017. In that election, voters approved a $100 million bond by a margin of 55-45 percent in favor.
