APD Makes Arrest in Auto Burglary

Amarillo Police have made an arrest in an auto burglary on Maverick Street.

According to APD, on April 11 at 8:46am, officers were called to a parking lot in the 4500 block of Maverick Street on a possible auto burglary. The caller told officers that he observed a male suspect inside a vehicle that did not belong to him.

Officers located Richard Ewing, Jr., inside of a black vehicle in the parking lot. Officers observed Ewing wearing rubber gloves and rummaging through the vehicle. Ewing was detained and officers confirmed this was not his vehicle.

Ewing was in possession of items from the vehicle and drug paraphernalia, officers say. The items from the vehicle were returned to the owner.

Richard Ewing was arrested for burglary of a vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia and was booked into the Randall County Jail.
