Cole Stanley (Amarillo City Council, Place 1) has thrown his support behind Joanne Garcia Flores in her May 24th Republican primary runoff bid for Randall County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4.
In a statement (provided below), Stanley praised Flores for being “a strong leader with a servant’s heart” and noted that she is “a constitutional conservative that will defend our rights and the rights of the unborn.” He also noted that she has “the experience of more than 30 years in criminal justice.”
Flores had previously held the position after being appointed in 2005, though she did not seek a full term after the term expired. She faced Kyle Balke and Michael B. Grady in the March 1st primary election last month. Since no candidate received a majority of votes, the race has gone to a runoff featuring Flores and Balke. Some of Flores’ other endorsements include Phil Woodall, the longest serving Randall County Justice of the Peace in Precinct 4, Amarillo Taxpayers PAC, and Local Teamsters 577.
Cole Stanley, elected to the open Amarillo City Council Place 1 position last year, has quickly become one of the most high-profile members of the council. He is often the single dissenting vote on major issues such as tax increases and has also endorsed Tam Boatler in his race for Randall County Commission Precinct 4. Boatler will also be on the May 24th runoff ballot, facing off against Melissa Kalka.
The deadline to register to vote in the May 24th runoff is May 25th. Early voting in the race is May 16th through May 20th.

“To my fellow citizens,
My name is Cole Stanley and I am your City Councilman Place One. I would like to endorse Joanne Garcia Flores for our next JP. Joanne is a strong leader with a servant’s heart for our community. Not only does she have the experience of more than 30 years in criminal justice, she has the core values and character we are looking for. Joanne is a constitutional conservative that will defend our rights and the rights of the unborn. I hope you will join me in supporting Joanne for this position and give her this opportunity to serve.
Thank you
