APD Seeking Information in Possible Case of Child Falling Out of Car

Provided

Police are seeking the public’s help in completing a welfare check following the report of a child possibly falling out of a car.

According to Amarillo Police, on Monday, April 4, at 4:51pm, an officer was called to 5730 Amarillo Boulevard West, in the parking lot near the Murphy’s gas station. Witnesses told officers they heard a small child screaming, and when they looked, they saw a male toddler laying on the asphalt near a maroon Chevrolet Malibu.

Bystanders went to render aid, but a white female who identified herself as the mother of the child, picked him up and put him into the vehicle, leaving the scene.

Authorities believe the child fell from the vehicle while it was moving. Witnesses described visible injuries on the child. The officer was told that the female was driving the vehicle and there was also an adult while male passenger.

APD is now seeking the public’s help locating the vehicle and the child so that a welfare check can be completed. Photos of the vehicle were taken, but the license plate is unreadable.

Anyone with information that could possibly identify the individuals in this case is asked to call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400.
