Portions of Palo Duro Canyon to be Closed for 24 Hours in the Canyon Bike Race

A significant portion of Palo Duro Canyon State Park will be closed to the public this weekend for the annual 24 Hours in the Canyon bike race. On June 4th and 5th, the Park Road will be closed beyond the Old West Stables.

The park Headquarters, Visitor Center, and Trading Post will remain open. Visitors will also still be able to hike the CCC, Triassic, and Goodnight Loop trails.

According to Palo Duro Canyon State Park’s official Facebook page, the race “helps raise money for cancer research and treatment.” The park also notes that the nonprofit provides the park with sunscreen dispensers in exchange for use of the park.

The Texas Parks & Wildlife website warns visitors to “expect crowds and traffic” this weekend due to the event.
