A planned visit to West Texas A&M University by a delegation from the United Kingdom has been cancelled following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The visit, which was set to take place on Friday, had been set to include a tree planting ceremony in front of Old Main.
The cancelled visit was set to include various locations in Amarillo and Canyon to bolster the relationship between rural Texas and the United Kingdom.
WT included the following update about the cancellation in a press release:
“Following the news about the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the Sept. 9 tree-planting ceremony with Her Majesty’s Consul General Richard Hyde and senior staff from the British Consulate in Houston has been canceled. Details about planting a tree in the Queen's memory for the Queen's Green Canopy initiative will be available at a later date.”
