The City of Amarillo has posted an updated version of its Rolling Agenda Planner, giving the public a preview of items to be discussed during the upcoming November 14th and December 12th meetings of Amarillo City Council.
Discussion items planned for the November 14th meeting include a quarterly update from the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation, discussion of Extra Territorial Jurisdiction Agreements, and discussion of the City Manager recruitment process. (Discussion of Extra Territorial Jurisdiction Agreements had originally been planned for the October 24th meeting but was pushed to the November 14th meeting.)
Significant spending items planned for the November 14th meeting include a $5,301,450 contract for construction of two City of Amarillo Fueling Center locations and a contract with HDR Engineers for design and construction of water main extensions in east Amarillo which could cost upwards of $1 million. The council will also consider a $922,802.58 seven-year contract with South Plains Communications for two-way radios. This item was pushed from the October 24th meeting, where it originally had an estimated price tag of $903,000.
Other notable items set for the November 14th meeting include consideration of an “amendment to MPEV lease agreement,” allowance for administrative adjustments to allow for greater flexibility in parking requirements for infill developments, and a proposed annexation of approximately 1,087 acres by the city near U.S. Highway 60 and N. Parsley Road.
The main focus of the November 14th meeting will be board appointments, with 28 such items planned for the meeting. This includes voting on members of the Potter and Randall Appraisal District Boards, which was pushed back from the October 24th meeting.
Discussion items planned for the December 12th meeting include discussion of an Animal Management and Welfare ordinance, discussion of police procedures for responding to traffic accidents, discussion of potential changes to the city’s public and environmental health code in response to SB 577, and presentation of a quarterly budget update.
Only two spending items set for the December 12th meeting list expected price tags. One of these items is an approximately $88,000 purchase of Dell desktop computers. (This item was originally set for the October 24th meeting.) The other item with a listed estimated price is a $312,000 contract with Ground Zero Security for a three-year contract for worker security screening services at Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.
Other potential spending items currently planned for the December 12th meeting include HVAC removal and installation with abatement at Osage Plant, Thompson Park Pool demolition, an annual contract for tree management services, major medical stop loss insurance coverage, and concrete repairs.
The council is also set to consider the issuance of water and sewer revenue bonds during the December 12th meeting. These will likely be used to finish funding the $71 million contract for phase 1 of the construction of the Amarillo Northeast Sanitary Sewer Interceptor project, which is set to be approved during the upcoming October 24th meeting.
