In the latest campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission, presidential candidates revealed how much money they have brought in for their campaigns in recent months. And among donors from Amarillo, former President Donald Trump remains the big fundraising leader.
According to the FEC finance reports, Trump reported raising $37,172.15 from 902 donations from Amarillo. This amount sets him far ahead of the rest of the Republican primary field in terms of fundraising out of Amarillo.
Behind Trump, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley reported raising $8,415.75 across 174 donations out of Amarillo. Following Haley, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott reported raising $7,227.93 and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis reported raising $2,227.58 from local donors. Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy was the only other candidate to raise more than $1,000 from donors in Amarillo, bringing in $1,393.07 from nine donors.
Aside from the leading candidates, former Vice President Mike Pence reported raising $884 from donors in Amarillo, while former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie raised $260.25 and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson raised $40. Withdrawn candidate Perry Johnson, a businessman from Michigan, also raised $54 from local donors.
Among the Democratic candidates for president, no contributions were reported from Amarillo donors during the current election cycle.
