Candidates will begin filing their applications for spots on the Republican and Democratic primary ballots on Saturday.

According to the Texas Secretary of State, ballot filing begins Saturday for all offices set to appear on the primary ballot. The filing period is currently ongoing for precinct chairs of both parties, which will also continue until the filing deadline on December 11.

All candidates who plan to appear on the primary ballot for any office from president to precinct chair must file their applications by Monday, December 11. Offices that represent territories encompassing more than one county must file with their state party, while candidates running in offices located entirely within one county must file with their county chair.

The current county chairs for each party in the Amarillo area are:

  • Potter County Republican Party — Dan Rogers

  • Potter County Democratic Party — David Martinez

  • Randall County Republican Party — Kelly Giles

  • Randall County Democratic Party — Steven R. Rosas

All candidates are required to fill out an application for the ballot and pay any filing fee or submit any petition, if applicable. Judicial candidates will also be required to fill out an additional section of the regular form that outlines their legal career.

For information about how to file for your place on the ballot, please contact the county chair for your preferred party.
