Smithee Gets Top Ballot Spot in Randall County

State Rep. John Smithee won the top spot on the ballot in Randall County’s ballot draw on Thursday night.

According to the ballot order reported to the Texas Secretary of State, Smithee will appear in the top spot on the ballot in the race for the 86th District House seat in Randall County. The ballot order will be in effect for the March 5th Republican primary, as Smithee tries to fend off a primary challenge from Canyon resident Jamie Haynes.

Down the ballot, Rick Cooper took the top spot in the contested county commissioner race and incumbent Chris Forbis took the top ballot position for the county’s sheriff election.
