One of the most well-known third-party candidates running in Texas has withdrawn from her race to instead seek a regional office in 2024.

Sarah Stogner, a West Texas attorney who announced she would be a Forward Party candidate for Railroad Commissioner in 2024, announced on Twitter on Monday that she would be withdrawing from the race. Instead, Stogner plans to seek the Republican nomination for district attorney in the 143rd Judicial District, which includes Loving, Reeves, and Ward counties.

The incumbent, Randall “Randy” Reynolds, a Democrat, was most recently re-elected in 2020 unopposed. Reynolds has filed to seek re-election in 2024.

Thus far, Stogner is the first Republican to declare for the seat. The Republican primary is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, 2024. The general election will be held on November 5, 2024.
