Former Amarillo College advisor Irene Hughes has filed to run for the college’s Board of Regents. In a video announcing her candidacy, Hughes stated she is looking to “represent the values of the voters of the City of Amarillo as well as the residents of Herford and Moore County.”
Hughes is joining local educator and republican activist Jason Foglesong and knife sharpener Mike Yazbek, as well as incumbents Jay Barrett and Michele Fortunato on the ballot. Incumbent Sally Jennings is also up for reelection this year, though she has not yet filed.
Election Day is May 6th. The deadline for candidates to file for a place on the ballot is Friday, February 17th at 5:00 pm.
