Owner of Sixth Street Antique Mall Chip Hunt filed to run for Amarillo City Council Place 1 on Friday.

According to her campaign website, Hunt’s campaign will be focused on preventing crime. Hunt noted that a major factor in her decision to run was a violent robbery at her store that left her in the hospital.

Hunt’s campaign priorities include stopping violent crime, fighting for taxpayers, improving trust, enhancing tourism, and running the city like a business.

Hunt has a large field of challengers in the open race. With incumbent Place 1 Councilman Cole Stanley running for Mayor, the field has grown to be the largest race for Place 1 in Amarillo history. Other candidates include Margie Gonzales, Ray White, Kelsey Richardson, Josh Craft, Sherie Wood, and Dean Crump.

Election Day is May 6th. Be sure to regularly check AmarilloPioneer.com for more election updates.
