Retired businessman Ray White announced his intention to drop out of the race for Amarillo City Council Place 1 on social media Tuesday.
The Amarillo Pioneer reached out to White for comment on his reason for dropping out and whether or not he intends to endorse one of the other candidates in the crowded race. In response to both questions, White told the Pioneer “no comment on either.”
Despite announcing his intention to drop out, White’s name is still expected to appear on the May 6th ballot, as the deadline to withdraw from the ballot was February 24th. Other candidates on the ballot for Place 1 are Chip Hunt, Josh Craft, Kelsey Richardson, Sherie Wood, Dean Crump, and Margie Gonzales. Incumbent Cole Stanley is running for mayor.
