Mayoral candidate Jeff McGunegle released a video on Tuesday, discussing the candidates he would vote for if the May 6 Amarillo City Council election was held today.

In the video, McGunegle discussed a recent video released by businessman Alex Fairly discussing his endorsements, and discussed the need for a more diverse city government. McGunegle then went on to state his picks for the City Council, endorsing chaplin Margie Gonzales for Place 1, commercial teller Gabriel McHenry-Herrera for Place 2, beautification activist Katt Massey for Place 3, and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Hobert “Gunny” Brown for Place 4. McGunegle also gave recognition to one of his mayoral opponents, Tonya Winston, saying she would be his pick for mayor.

“People of vision, people who have faced adversity,” McGunegle said, praising his picks. “It kind of reminds me of Amarillo.”

McGunegle is currently running for mayor, locked in a six-way contest against Winston, City Councilmembers Cole Stanley and Freda Powell, former Elkhart City Councilman Don Collins, and truck driver Sam Burnett.

Election Day is May 6.
