During an upcoming meeting of Amarillo City Council, the council is set to discuss “conduct by a City Councilmember as a potential violation of City of Amarillo Governance and Ends Policies, including City Council Member Responsibilities and City Council Member Code of Conduct.”

The item is solely a discussion item, and no action is expected to be taken. The agenda does not specify which council member is the subject of the item, nor what conduct is being discussed.

According to the City of Amarillo, the City Council Member Code of Conduct contains the following items:

1. Be respectful, kind, considerate and courteous to all people at all times.

2. Conduct an independent and impartial review of all matters addressed by City Council.

3. Support all decisions of the City Council although an individual member may be on the minority side of the outcome.

4. Adhere to the council-manager structure of government set out in the City Charter.

5. Refrain from making public comments, suggestions or demands concerning any City staff, operations or policy without first discussing the matter with the City Manager.

6. Improve his or her governance ability by attending training annually.

The full Mission and Responsibility statements document, including the full City Council Member Code of Conduct, can be downloaded from the City of Amarillo website here.
