Area Agencies Partner, Provide Recovery Resources

The City of Amarillo, the City of Canyon, the Amarillo Area Office of Emergency Management, Potter County, Randall County, and other local organizations have set up a Multi-Agency Resource Center to assist local flood victims.

The resource center, located at Randall County Fire Station #1, opened at noon on June 8th and will be open until 7:00 pm. It will also be open from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm on June 9th, According to the City of Amarillo, “future hours of operation will be determined based on community need.”

Per a social media post by the City of Amarillo, the center will offer Emergency Financial Assistance, Emergency Housing Assistance, Clean Up Kits, Home Clean Out, Food Boxes, Utility Assistance, Hygiene Kits, Household Goods and Clothing, Request Debris Removal, Documentation Replacement, Recovery Guidance, and Emotional/Spiritual Care.

The center is being coordinated by the Texas Panhandle Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster. Other participating organizations include the Amarillo Area Foundation, American Red Cross, Texas Division of Emergency Management, The Salvation Army - Emergency Disaster Services, Panhandle Community Services, 211 Texas, High Plains Food Bank, United Way of Amarillo & Canyon, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Downtown Women's Center, Texans on Mission, Central Church of Christ, Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, and Joseph's Project - Catholic Charities.
