Early voting totals for both Potter & Randall Counties are up from 2022 but down from 2020.

In Potter County, 4,703 voted in person in this year’s primary, up from the 4,273 who voted early in the 2022 primary. The turnout didn’t quite reach the turnout from the last presidential primary in 2020, when 5,112 voted early.

Of those who voted early in Potter, 4,231 voted in the Republican Party primary and 472 voted in the Democratic Party primary. The Republican Party turnout was higher than it was in either 2022 or 2020, though the Democratic Party turnout has continually gone down from 1,164 in 2020.

The most popular early voting location in Potter this year was the Santa Fe Building, where 1,472 votes were cast. The Northwest Branch Library and Casey Carpet One were close behind at a respective 1,331 and 1,206 votes. The highest turnout day was March 1st, when 1,115 people cast their ballot.

The number of mail-in ballots received through the end of early voting in Potter is 659, slightly down from the 665 received through the end of early voting in 2022. This decrease has been largely driven by a decrease in mail-in votes in the Democratic Party primary, where only 167 ballots had been received compared to 234 in 2022. The number of mail-in ballots in the Republican Party primary is slightly up, with 492 received this year compared to 431 in 2022.

A similar story played out in Randall, where 10,358 voted early in this year’s primary. This is higher than the total who voted in the 2022 primary, which saw a turnout of 9,876, but was down from 11,999 who voted in 2020.

The Republican Party turnout in Randall of 9,749 didn’t quite reach the high of 10,320 from 2020, but did beat the turnout of 9,067 in 2022. The Democratic Party turnout, which was 609 this year, has continually gone down from 1,679 in 2020.

Randall County has not released the turnout by polling place for March 1st, but, through February 29th, the most popular polling place had been the Randall County Annex, where 3,267 had cast their ballot. The Southwest Branch Library came in second, with 2,199 votes cast.

In Randall County, the primaries for both parties saw fewer mail-in ballots received through the end of early voting compared to 2022. Only 946 were received in the Republican Party Primary this year compared to 1,057 in 2022, while only 214 were received in the Democratic Party Primary this year compared to 295 in 2022.

Election Day is Tuesday, March 5th. All polling places will be open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
