Railroad Commissioner Christi Craddick has won the Republican nomination for another term in office, fighting off a challenge from a number of candidates.
According to unofficial election results, Craddick won 50.42 percent of the vote, or 980,457 votes. Her second place challenger, Jim Matlock, received 26.56 percent. Also running were Christie Clark, Corey Howell, and Petra Reyes.
Craddick spent big in the final days of her campaign to win her party’s nomination for another term, hoping to avoid a repeat of the 2022 election, when incumbent Wayne Christian was forced into a runoff against Sarah Stogner.
With Craddick’s renomination, she will face Democrat Katherine Culbert in the November general election.
