Freeman Steps Down From Interim City Manager Role

According to a press release, Andrew Freeman has stepped down from his role as Interim City Manager and has returned to his previous position as Deputy City Manager.

This move follows a tense City Council meeting that came in the wake of a quickly rescinded shakeup of high-level staff by Freeman.

Typically, the Deputy City Manager serves as Acting City Manager in the absence of a City Manager or Interim City Manager. As of writing, there has not been any announcement by the city about the appointment of a new Interim City Manager. As the city is currently searching for a new City Manager, it appears that, for now, Freeman is still Acting City Manager.

Following Freeman's promotion to the role of Interim City Manager in September, Freeman named Assistant City Manager and City of Amarillo CFO Laura Storrs Interim Deputy City Manager. There has not been an announcement regarding her position.
