Members of Amarillo City Council put forward a list of candidates for a charter review committee during their most recent meeting, though the final list of committee members has yet to be decided.

The committee will be tasked with meeting throughout June to study the Amarillo City Charter and recommend amendments to be placed on the November ballot.

After each member of the council provided several names, Mayor Cole Stanley directed members of the council to pick two names and send them to Amarillo City Secretary Stephanie Coggins. Once that list has been finalized, we will report who made it onto that list. Whoever makes it to the final committee will join Councilmen Tom Scherlen and Les Simpson, who volunteered to serve on the committee as well.

In the meantime, here are the nominations as made by the council on Tuesday, as well as a brief look at each person’s work and board experience.
