City Council to Discuss AEDC Controversy During Closed-Door Meeting

Amarillo City Council will hold an executive session meeting on August 27th to discuss recent controversies related to the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation.

The controversy is in regards to $750,000 of AEDC funds which were wired to the RANGE Foundation, despite only $100,000 being budgeted. Concerns have also been raised due to the fact that AEDC President & CEO Kevin Carter is also on the board of the RANGE. Our full story on the controversy can be found at this link.

The executive session meeting will not be open to the public. Listed agenda items include discussing “Operations of the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation” as well as the “Regional Accelerator & New Growth Engine Project (The RANGE).”

The meeting will begin at 2:00 pm and will take place between an 11:00 am budget meeting and the council’s 3:00 pm regular meeting. The full agenda can be found at this link.
