Voters campaigning both for and against Amarillo’s Proposition A this November have begun placing yard signs and running billboards to support their various positions.
Over the past several weeks, yard signs supporting and opposing Prop A have been placed by the campaigns. The signs for Prop A, reading “Vote For Life”, have been paid for by Project Destiny Amarillo and bear a striking resemblance to the yard signs utilized by Project Destiny in other Texas cities.
Meanwhile, the signs opposing Proposition A have taken on many designs, but two seem to be most common. The first reads “Love Thy Neighbor,” while the other reads “Neighbors Not Enemies.” Many of the signs have been paid for by Amarillo Freedom PAC.
Both groups are running billboards with similar messaging to their yard signs. In addition to “Love Thy Neighbor” and “Say No to Government Overreach” billboards being run by Amarillo Freedom PAC, Women’s March Inc. is running a billboard claiming the ordinance will “turn Amarillo neighbors against each other.”
As we have previously reported, Proposition A would declare Amarillo a “Sanctuary City for the Unborn.” Proposition A’s opponents say the measure’s focus on cracking down on abortion-related travel is immoral and unconstitutional, while supporters say the measure is a legal prohibition on “abortion trafficking” necessitated by what they see as loopholes in the Texas Heartbeat Act.
The election will be decided on November 5th.
