Q: Why did you decide to run for this office in 2022?

A: I currently serving on the State Board of Education. My understanding of how SBOE functions allows me to be effective in this position. I believe my 16 plus years of experience on the Pampa Independent School District will help me contribute to the educational improvement of nearly 5.5 million Texas students. My goal is to continually seek ways to raise the bar for Texas public education!

Q: If elected, what will be your top three priorities in office?

A: 1. Critical Race Theory has become a lightning rod for my constituency. I will diligently look for ways to prevent any such divisive information or material from finding a way into Texas Curriculum.

2. I will search for the most highly qualified, conservative people to serve as curriculum content advisors and members of curriculum work groups. These people and groups are responsible for reviewing and rewriting Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills [TEKS] for every subject.

3. I will continue to be accessible to all voters in my 87 counties.

Q: What is an issue you believe has gone overlooked in your race and how will you address it if elected?

A: Attracting qualified teachers and retaining qualified teachers is a top priority for every district in Texas!!

SBOE must be certain to do nothing to impede the goal of attracting and retaining great faculties. SBOE must actively seek opportunities to assist local districts and legislators in solutions to find and keep great educators.

Q: Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position?

A: I have been involved in many different aspects of public education for well over 30 years. I have served on my local school board, committees for long range planning, bond elections and superintendent search committees. I am familiar with the procedures and methods of Texas k-12 public education. I have excellent relationships with educators, superintendents and employees of Educational Service Centers across Texas. BUT mostly I have a passion for Texas children to succeed in school and in LIFE!
