Q: Have you previously held or do you currently hold any elected office? If so, what office(s)?

Q: If your campaign has any online campaign resources where voters can learn more about you, such as social media accounts or a website, please list them below.

A: judgescottwalker.com (website)

Q: Why did you decide to run for this office in 2022?

A: I currently hold this position and have served five years of a six-year term. While my job can be extremely challenging at times, I feel that the past five years have been the most rewarding years of my life. Also, since I have spent five years serving in this position, I feel that I am uniquely qualified to serve again.

Q: If elected, what will be your top three priorities in office?

A: My first priority has been and will continue to be to help maintain justice in all of the criminal courts in Texas. The criminal courts in Texas look to guidance from the Court of Criminal Appeals by reading our opinions, which, in legal terms, are 'controlling law' in Texas. Every opinion I write is written with the hope that the opinion will help to maintain justice in the Texas courts. My second priority has been and will continue to be to help shape the jurisprudence in the State of Texas in a way that adheres to the laws of the United States and Texas, as well as to the laws of God. My third priority has been and will continue to be to do my part in upholding and maintaining the integrity of the Court.

Q: What is an issue you believe has gone overlooked in your race and how will you address it if elected?

A: While my job entails the interpretation of Texas Statutes and the U.S. and Texas Constitutions, I am very cognizant of the fact that God's laws are paramount and are often overlooked. I will continue to pray for God's direction with the votes I cast at the Court and the opinions that I write.

Q: Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position?

A: I am currently the incumbent in this position and have served for five years now as a Judge on the Court of Criminal Appeals. I believe this makes me uniquely qualified to serve another term as a Judge on the Court of Criminal Appeals, Place Five. Furthermore, over ninety percent of my legal career consisted of criminal trials and criminal appeals and, even though this is an appellate court, my trial experience has been extremely helpful to the Court during the last five years, and I think the other Judges on the Court would agree.
