Interim Amarillo City Manager Terry Childers has resigned, following an incident which saw a profane word used to describe an Amarillo citizen.
During last night's regular meeting of the Amarillo City Council, Childers reportedly called Amarillo resident James Schenck a "stupid son of a bitch," after Schenck disagreed with the Interim City Manager.
James Schenck reacted to the resignation of Mr. Childers in a different way than some members of community.
"I didn't know that this was going to result in [Mayor Paul] Harpole and them getting his resignation," Schenck said. "I didn't even hear him call me the name. I honestly wish it didn't happen this way. There are many other reasons he should be gone."
According to reports, Childers tendered a resignation to the City Council, this morning. Childers has served as Interim City Manager, after being chosen for the job in November of 2015.
