James Schenck, the local insurance provider and community activist, announced his intention to run for City Council yesterday.
"I'm here to accept the challenge," Schenck said, while announcing his candidacy during the meeting.
Schenck, who is also a nominee for Pioneer of the Year, was one of the outspoken personalities against Amarillo's 7 bond propositions, during the November election. Schenck was also nicknamed "Mr. Trump" for his support of Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
Schenck has announced that he will be seeking Place 2, which is currently held by Lisa Blake.
Also, in local election news, Eddy Sauer, Danny South, Tom Warren II, and Thomas Warren III, all filed appointments for treasurers for local election bids yesterday. Sauer will be running for Place 3, currently held by Randy Burkett.
