The Amarillo Police Department is investigating a shooting in Benton Park.
It was reported on Tuesday that APD is investigating a shooting in Benton Park (14th Avenue and South Vernon). Officers were dispatched to the park on Tuesday afternoon and found a 17-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound in the upper right shoulder. The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and the extent of his wounds has not yet been released.
While investigating, officers found spent cartridge casings in and around the street. Witnesses also reported hearing gunshots.
APD detectives are still investigating the case.
