APD Seeks Suspect in Attempted Personal Robbery at Best Buy

Amarillo Police are seeking the suspect in an attempted robbery in the Best Buy parking lot.

According to APD, officers were dispatched on Tuesday night to the Best Buy at 101 Westgate Parkway on the report of an attempted personal robbery. The victim, adult female accompanied by a juvenile female, had been crossing the street while holding a purse. The suspect approached the woman and demanded the purse. She refused twice and the man produced a handgun and fired one shot. The victim still refused to give up the purse and the suspect ran toward the residential area near the Best Buy.

An APD canine unit and the Department of Public Safety helicopter searched the area but did not find the suspect.

APD reports that the suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20's with stubble or a goatee. The suspect is about 5'6" and weighs around 130 pounds.

No person was injured in the incident and the victim was able to keep the purse.
