A new poll shows that a large number of Texans disapprove of Senator Ted Cruz and a majority of Texans are unaware of Congressman Beto O'Rourke.
In the new poll released by the Texas Tribune, 45 percent of Texans surveyed expressed disapproval with Cruz. 38 percent of Texans survey expressed some level of support for Cruz, while 17 percent of Texans said they had no opinion of Cruz.
Meanwhile, for Cruz's chief Democratic opponent, Beto O'Rourke (D-El Paso), most Texans have no opinion. 69 percent of Texans surveyed said they did not know of O'Rourke or they had no opinion of the El Paso Democrat. 16 percent of those surveyed expressed favor toward O'Rourke, while 13 percent disapprove.
For all those surveyed statewide, Cruz is the least popular state official. Governor Greg Abbott pulled a 48 percent approval rating, followed by Lt. Governor Dan Patrick at 36 percent. Senator John Cornyn and Texas Speaker Joe Straus both hold a more unfavorable rating from Texans than those that approve, according to the poll.
