Amarillo Resident Appointed to State Funeral Board

Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of an Amarillo resident to the Texas Funeral Services Commission.

In an announcement by the Texas governor's office, Governor Abbott announced the appointment of Amarillo resident Dianne Hefley to the Texas Funeral Services Commission. Hefley's appointment will expire in 2023.

Hefley is an Amarillo realtor for Coldwell Banker First Equity Realtors and was a teacher for 33 years. Hefley is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Texas Association of Realtors, the Amarillo Association of Realtors, and the Amarillo Retired Teacher Association, as well as a former member of the National Education Association and the Texas Teachers Association.

Hefley holds a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and earth sciences from Texas A&M University - Commerce.

In addition to the appointment of Hefley, Abbott also appointed San Antonio's Kristin Tips to the commission. Tips is the president, chief operating officer and funeral director of Mission Park Funeral Chapels, Cemeteries and Crematories, in San Antonio.

The Texas Funeral Services Commission establishes standards to license funeral directors and embalmers, examines applicants and issues appropriate licenses, and regulates cemetery and crematory services.
