The Houston Astros have won the 2017 World Series.
In the series-deciding game seven of the 2017 World Series, Houston raced to an early lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers, claiming a 5-1 victory. With help from a 2nd inning, two-run home run off the bat of George Springer, the Astros were able to claim the 5-1 win.
Following the game, Houston's Springer was named World Series MVP and the Astros were presented with the Commissioner's Trophy. In addition, Carlos Correa, a Houston favorite, proposed to his girlfriend at the game.
The victory means that the Houston Astros have won the World Series for the first time in the franchise's 56 years of existence. The Astros are also the first team from Texas to ever win the World Series.
