Texas Supreme Court justice John Devine is seeking re-election to the state's highest court in 2018.
Devine, the incumbent place four justice on the court, filed the necessary application to seek re-election on Wednesday. Devine is the second incumbent Supreme Court judge to file to seek re-election in 2018.
Justice Devine was first elected in 2012, defeating incumbent Republican judge David M. Medina. In the general election, Devine cruised to victory without a Democratic opponent.
Candidates have until December 11th to file for a spot on the ballot.
The Republican Party's primary election will be held on March 6, 2018.
