The Amarillo Fire Department has announced promotions, new hires and retirements for the month of November, 2017.
According to the Amarillo Fire Department, one of Amarillo's firefighters retired in November. Captain Mikal Orr retired from the AFD after 13 years of service to the people of Amarillo. Orr was assigned to the Wildland firefighting department.
Following the retirement of Orr, lieutenant Adam Perry was promoted to the rank of captain. Perry will remain in the Technical Rescue program.
In addition, several new probationary firefighters were hired by the Amarillo Fire Department. These firefighters will undergo a rigorous orientation program, learning City of Amarillo and Amarillo Fire Department procedures.
