Senator Kel Seliger has been endorsed for re-election by the Texas Association of REALTORS.
Seliger, the long-time incumbent state senator, was announced as the association's pick last week as the group is currently in the process of announcing its supported candidates.
Following the announcement, Seliger responded to the endorsement positively, saying, "Proud to have the support of the Texas REALTORS."
This is the second time that a group associated with the Texas Association of REALTORS has endorsed a candidate in an Amarillo race. In 2017, the Texas REALTORS PAC spend nearly $109,000 in the City Council Place 4 race to support Howard Smith. Smith defeated incumbent Mark Nair in the City of Amarillo's municipal election.
The endorsement comes as Seliger is currently facing three opponents in his bid for re-election. Restaurant owner Victor Leal and former Midland mayor Mike Canon are challenging Seliger in the Republican primary. Jack B. Westbrook is running for the Libertarian nomination.
The primary election day is on March 6th.
