Santa 'Spotted' by Amarillo Police on Christmas Eve

Amarillo Police Officers "spotted" Santa Claus on Sunday night, broadcasting a message over the emergency communications network in Amarillo.

On Sunday night, the Amarillo Emergency Communications Center re-broadcasted a message for offices about Santa Claus. The original message was recorded by Sgt. Edwin Fitzhugh and has since become a tradition for many in Amarillo.

The message informed officers that a sleigh being pulled by reindeer was southbound toward Amarillo after leaving the north pole. The message also informed officers not to detain Santa as he was bringing good cheer and gifts for those in the community.
