Walgreens released new rankings this week for the top flu indexes in the country and Texas has earned rankings on the list.
In the new list, the entire Texas Panhandle, portions of south Texas and central Texas are ranked as being in the high flu index. In addition, eight specific Texas markets were named to the top ten markets in the country for flu cases this year. Each market is in the south Texas area.
While the rankings are meant to show impacts of the flu, Walgreens says that the rankings should not be used to determine severity.
"The Flu Index is not intended to illustrate levels or severity of flu activity," Walgreens says on their website. "But rather, illustrate which populations are experiencing the highest incidence of flu."
Arkansas is the only other state to earn a high flu index ranking in Walgreens' latest survey.
