Shohei Ohtani, a Japanese baseball sensation, met with officials for the Texas Rangers this week, according to reports.
Ken Rosenthal, of Fox Sports, reported this week that Ohtani met with officials from the Texas Rangers organization. The announcement comes as the Rangers are attempting to lock down a deal with Japanese hitting and pitching sensation.
Earlier this week, representatives for Shohei Ohtani informed seven teams that they are finalists to land the star. Those teams that have been chosen as finalists are: the San Francisco Giants, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Angels, the San Diego Padres, the Seattle Mariners, the Chicago Cubs and the Texas Rangers.
Ohtani, 23, is expected to sign a minor league contract with one of the remaining teams before the signing deadline, according to the Mercury News.
