Two special meetings covering fumonisin issues in corn are scheduled for later this month.
According to information from the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Center in Amarillo, Texas Corn Producers and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host two meetings December 19 covering fumonisin issues in corn this year with a look toward 2018.
"Fumonisin is a mycotoxin produced by two species of Fusarium fungi that can cause illnesses in livestock and humans, so there are regulatory limits to the amount corn can contain," according to the AgriLife Center.
The first meeting will be from 9am to 11:30am at the Moore County Community Center, 1600 South Maddox Street in Dumas.
The second meeting will be from 5:30pm to 8pm in the Castro County Expo Center, 405 Southeast 4th Street in Dimmitt.
