The names of the people vying to serve on the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation were just announced, last night.
During the Amarillo City Council's meeting, Council members announced the finalists to take attorney Ginger Nelson's spot on the AEDC. The finalists for the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation include:
· Paul Christy, apartment complex owner
· Joshua Raef, Chick-Fil-A on Georgia Street owner
· Laura Street
· William "Bill" Sumerford, retired engineer
Mayor Harpole also said that he would like to have seen Rob Parker or Brian Hudson be nominated for the board, as well. However, Mayor Harpole's choices were not chosen as final nominees.
The Amarillo Economic Development Corporation is currently led by board members Brian Bruckner, Tom Bivins, Craig Gualitere, and Brian Heinrich. Ginger Nelson's seat on the AEDC is currently vacant. Nelson resigned in 2016, to run for Mayor of Amarillo.
An interview date has not yet been set for the finalists.
Also, during the meeting, the City Council voted to appoint Jared Miller to the Metropolitan Planning Organization, Thomas Warren III to the Library Advisory Board, Jeff Bryant and Richard Constancio to the Construction Advisory Board, Donald Ellis, William Biggs, and Mendi Lu Seymour-Permenter to the Amarillo Hospital District Board, and Stephen Hoyl, Chris Bell, Shirley Heard, and Robert Goodrich to the 21st Century Senior Services Development Advisory Board.
