The Amarillo Police Department will host a law enforcement exploring open house, this Thursday, at the Amarillo Civic Center.
APD says that the community is invited to attend the event to find out what Amarillo Police Explorers have been doing over the past year. There will also be a promotion ceremony for some of the explorers and an open enrollment for those interested in joining the post.
APD says that those invited to join the explorers program must be 14 to 20 years of age. Participants must also have completed the eighth grade and must be of good moral character and passing all classes. Also requested is that explorers be willing to be leaders among their peers and be willing to be leaders in their communities.
APD also says that young people interested in a career in the field of law enforcement should attend the event. Parents are also invited.
Amarillo Police will also have recruiters on site to talk with those who are interested in a career in law enforcement.
The event will be held in the Amarillo Civic Center Hospitality Room on Thursday, February 16th, from 6pm until 8pm.
