Forest Service: Tulia Fire 100 Percent Contained

A fire that threatened numerous houses near Tulia has been contained.

The Texas A&M Forest Service announced today that a wildfire in Swisher County has been 100 percent contained. The fire was said to have threatened over 1,000 structures during its time span.

The Texas A&M Forest Service reported that 4 homes were destroyed, along with 8 outbuildings. Two of the destroyed homes were unoccupied.

Fire crews from across the panhandle were on hand to fight the fire.

Yesterday evening, the fire was reported to have been stopped. This morning, the fire was announced as contained.
