West Texas A&M University will be hold a "Shack-A-Thon," this month.
Five WTAMU campus ministries are collaborating with other student organizations for the ninth year to present Give-A-Goat/Shack-A-Thon. The presentation's aim is "to display a unique image of poverty on the WT campus and buy goats for a desperate people."
WTAMU students and residents of Amarillo and Canyon are asked to donate to help achieve the purchase of goats ($50 per goat). The fundraiser will cumulate in an event called the "Shack-A-Thon"
"Beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday April 26th students will culminate on the lawn east of Old Main to build shacks out of cardboard and wooden pallets. They will live in the shacks until 8 a.m. Thursday morning. The Canyon/Amarillo community is invited to come and view the student’s shacks, as well as attend a special program at 7:00 p.m., April 26th, near the east steps of the Old Main building." WTAMU said in a release.
Throughout its runs, the Give-A-Goat program has raised $180,000.
