APD SWAT Involved in Situation in North Amarillo

"On June 1st, at about 7:00 AM, APD officers were called to assist DPS units who were in a pursuit with a vehicle.

The pursuit started north of the city and headed south into the city limits. The suspect drove to a residence in the 3300 block of North Bolton, exited the vehicle and went inside.

The suspect was identified as Jerry Hernandez Rodriguez a 47 year old male. Rodriguez was found to have a parole warrant and claimed to be armed with a weapon. Rodriguez refused to come out of the residence so APD SWAT and Negotiators were called to the scene.

Negotiators made contact with Rodriguez and learned that there were two females in the residence with him. At 10:32 AM the two females exited the residence. Rodriguez still refused to exit the residence at this time and threatened to harm himself.

At 11:07 Rodriguez exited the residence and was taken into custody.

DPS has taken custody of Rodriguez due to them having the initial contact with him.

There are no reported injuries from the incident."
